A student-driven project for the Davis Creek Nature Trail
Davis Creek Regional Park is located 20 miles south of Reno and is home to a wide variety of plants and animals across 200 acres of pine and sage desert. The park includes a campground, a variety of scenic picnic areas, an outdoor amphitheater, and 3 hiking trails of varying difficulty and length. A variety of interpretive programs are also available throughout the year and include guided hikes, Story Stroll, and more.
One of three hiking trails available is the Nature Trail, which is a 0.7 mile long trail around Davis Pond. Throughout the trail are a variety of scenic views and wildlife, some of which are marked with a trail marker. These correspond to the interpretive trail guide, which outline the significance of each trail site. However, over time, these wooden trail markers have been worn down and are in need of replacement.
Using our welding and manufacturing skills, our goal is to fabricate and install new metal trail markers with the help of student volunteers!
